Required number of samples
1. Wines
All applications must be accompanied by 4 samples of each wine, for a minimum total of 3 litres, unless otherwise specified by the Competition Organizer except in the case of ice wines and late harvest vintage for which the required minimum volume is 1,2 litres. The samples presented will have to come from a homogeneous batch of at least 100 litres for the wines of 40 $CAD and more and 1000 litres for the other wines. Please note that no samples received at SMV Canada will be sent back to the sender.

2. Ice Wines and Late Havest
In the case of ice wines and late havest for which the required minimum number of bottles is 6 for a volume of at least 1,2 litres unless otherwise specified by the Competition Organizer. Please note that no samples received at SMV Canada will be sent back to the sender.
For example : 4 bottles of 300ml = 1,2 liter or 6 bottles of 200ml = 1,2 liter.

Important alternatives to reduce your transport costs

If the wine that you want to put in competition is already available in Quebec as a private import wine or on sale in one of the branches of the SAQ, or in another province of Canada, you can, to forward them to us via your agent.

Shipping methods of samples

IMPORTANT
In Canada, it is illegal to send alcoholic beverages by regular mail.
The wines will be simply destroyed with no appeal.

Use express carriers such as Eurofret, Fed Ex, DHL, etc. The expedition terms are as follows: D.D.U. Free house clearance (excluding duties and taxes). Duties and taxes will be paid by Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada.

EUROFRET CANADA inc and its affiliates will act as the carrier of Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada. They will provide all producers, agents or vintners with exclusive and preferred rates for single and group shipments. Shipping conditions are as follows: D.D.U. Free house clearance (excluding duties and taxes). Duties and taxes will be paid by Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada.

All samples must be shipped in cases clearly marked with "Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada" and include the following documents:

  • A photocopy of all registration forms;
  • A photocopy of the analysis certificate;
  • A pro forma invoice with the following informations :
  1. Brand name of the wine
  2. Color
  3. % alcohol
  4. Bottle format in ml (ex. 750 ml)
  5. Number of samples sent per wine registered
  6. Price net export per bottle stating the ex-cellar price in local currency, that is the price for reselling the wine,
  7. Total value
  8. Currency
  9. Country of origin of the wine
  10. Indicating "Samples for competition".
